Go Green Garland

What is Go Green Garland?

Environmental issues affect how our citizens live, work and play. Environmental issues affect the livability and health of our community, our nation and our world. This is why Garland launched its green initiative in 2008—to bring together information and resources to help each of us live a healthier lifestyle.

Garland Water Utilities, Garland Power & Light, Environmental Waste Services and Stormwater Management have combined efforts to educate and encourage Garland citizens to conserve water and electricity, recycle responsibly and protect our environment.

In celebration of Earth Day, Garland Environmental Waste Services invites all kindergarten through fifth grade students to express their artistic ability using recyclable materials. Create a piece of art which shows the importance of recycling and reuse to keep materials out of the landfill. The “Recycled Art Competition” will occur on Saturday, April 14 at the Recycling Center, 1434 Commerce St., Garland, TX 75040

Prizes awarded in two groups, K-2nd grade and 3rd – 5th grade:
1st Place: $250
