The meeting was called to order at 5:19 p.m.
1. Approval of Minutes from October 3, 2006 Meeting
2. T-shirt Design Contest Rules & Applications
Officially announced and distributed rules for T-shirt Design competition. This event is intended to raise awareness and increase youth involvement in GYC activities.
3. Teens in the Drivers Seat
Dr. Christopher Poe with the Texas Transportation Institute explained this program and how the GYC can be involved.
4. Bylaws Updates
GYC approved Bylaws updates made at last meeting.
5. Skate Park Committee Report
Skate Park Town Meeting is scheduled for February 13th at 7 p.m. to be broadcast live on CGTV.
6. Anti-Alcohol Committee Report
Changed Committee name to “Health & Safety” in order to encompass the Teens in the Drivers Seat Program and other related issues. The Buzz Free Prom Dress Giveaway is March 24 and 31 at Eastfield College. National Youth Service Day is April 21st. One location is Dallas City Hall from 9am to 2pm. Considering working with Mesquite on this project at a Mesquite location. Confirmed Teach-in schedule. Note: Teach In Training will be conducted after regular meeting adjourns.
7. Citizen Comments
Youth are encouraged to give their input on issues in the City that impact them and offer suggestions about how to address these issues. Youth Council members cannot respond to issues that are not posted on the agenda according to the Texas Opens Meetings Act.
