Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Garland Youth Council of the City of Garland, Texas, will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, in the Work Session Room on the first floor of City Hall, 200 North Fifth Street, Garland, Texas.
Items to be discussed:
1. Installation Ceremony for 2007-08 Youth Council Members
2. Officer Elections for 2007-08 Youth Council
GYC will elect a chair, vice-chairman, secretary and historian.
3. Teens in the Drivers Seat Update
Representatives from the Texas Transportation Institute will recap the purpose of the program and Garland’s participation. Representatives from each of GISD’s Campus Teams will have the opportunity to discuss their plans for this school year. The upcoming TDS Kickoff News Conference will also be discussed.
4. Committee Assignments
GYC members will establish committees for this year and select what committee(s) they’d like to serve.
5. Citizen Comments
Youth are encouraged to give their input on issues in the City that impact them and offer suggestions about how to address these issues. Youth Council members cannot respond to issues that are not posted on the agenda according to the Texas Opens Meetings Act.
