NOTICE is hereby given that a meeting of the Garland Youth Council of the City of Garland, Texas, will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, in the Work Session Room on the first floor of City Hall, 200 North Fifth Street, Garland, Texas.
 
Items to be discussed:
 
1.  Approval of Minutes from September 19, 2006 Meeting

2.  Bylaws Updates
Discussion of any potential updates to the GYC bylaws.
 
3.  Promoting GYC Participation
Discussion of ongoing plans to encourage youth participation in GYC meetings, including a new t-shirt design. 
 
4.  Anti-Alcohol Update
Representatives of ALOUD will come to GYC’s November meeting to conduct Teach-In Training.  Discussion of other updates.
 
5.  Skate Park Update
At GYC’s September meeting, members were asked to consult their calendars for February 13^th & 27^th as possible dates for Skate Park Town Meeting.  A date needs to be selected.
 
6.  Potential Future Projects

Discussion of potential participation in several projects.
-National Youth Service Day
-6^th Annual Buzz Free Prom Dress Giveaway
-PARD Sweetheart Dance
-MADD Strides for Change Walk
-Teen Driver Safety
-Others?
 
7.  Citizen Comments
Youth are encouraged to give their input on issues in the City that impact them and offer suggestions about how to address these issues.  Youth Council members cannot respond to issues that are not posted on the agenda according to the Texas Opens Meetings Act.
